Often times when speaking to young men about their choice for a godly wife, I offer them best wishes but insist on being very honest with them by offering them my sincere condolences because the best (Kay Combs) has already been taken.
They look at me oddly, and then I remind them who I am married to.
The one... The only... Mrs. Kay Combs.
First and foremost, Kay loves the Lord Jesus Christ and lives her life to please Him.
Secondly, she loves her husband (me), giving of herself without complaint, to see that I am honored, loved and taken care of.
Being Kay Combs' husand is an accomplishment in this life of which I am very proud.
Some know of Kay's dedication to me and the cares of my daily living but no one knows the full story because they do not live it with us.
I would like to share with you just how much Kay loves me.
We were married in 1996.
One month into our marriage, my health was in such decline that Kay began to assist me in the tasks of daily living.
As a man who wanted nothing more than to take care of his wife and provide for her, I found myself asking her to help me in ways I had never imagined.
My obesity had taken away the freedoms of daily living that many people take for granted.
As the loving and devoted wife that she is, Kay held me as I cried and told me she loved me and would be there for me as long as she lived.
Even with such expression of devotion, I remained scared and afraid - not that she would leave or refuse me help, but rather of the future and possibility of things becoming worse with my health.
As time bore out the aweful truth, things did get worse, but the thing that remained constant was Kay's love and dedication to me.
Over the years, her unfailing love has been a rock that has ministered to me and blessed me.
I do not know of another woman who is more worthy of honor than my wife, Kay.
She is unbelievably talented.
It has been said by many about her, "Is there anything you can't do?"
She has been my care giver and she also took exquisite care of my grandmother in the last year of her life - providing assistance for her and me.
Is Kay perfect? Certainly not but she is the epitome of what a wife should be.
I have said many times, "They don't make 'em like Kay, anymore."
What a beautiful blessing that I am honored to share this life with such an amazing, godly, caring and beautiful woman.
I am a recipient of the love of a lady whose compassion is deeper than the deepest ocean.
I am ever grateful to the Lord Jesus Christ for allowing me to walk this journey of life with Kay Combs.
I am blessed beyond measure, for I have found true love with the one the Lord has chosen for me.
Many hold their birthday as the most celebratory day of the year. I hold my wife's birthday in much higher regard than my own. I bless the day she was born. Even further, I cherish with honor, the day she became my wife.
This is the Kay Combs that I know and love.
I can absolutely say that I have been blessed with a gift from heaven.
Kay Combs, you are that gift.
